Pozzallo Sicily Italy 10 Nov

We had pizza for breakfast.

Since tomorrow is Remembrance Day I wore my poppy. Yes I packed poppies. We were a military family. But I want to be discreet about it. Jeff will wear his tomorrow.

The main street near our apartment is closed to traffic today, Sunday. Lots of people out walking and many are well dressed.

We need gravol for the bus so visited the pharmacy beside this square:

One of the pharmacists spoke English and was very helpful. I bought pills plus a ginger liquid which you take 20 drops for any kind of stomach issue including motion sickness, the pills are to be taken 30 minutes before the ride, Besides our bus journey tomorrow we are taking a long (10 hour) boat ride on Saturday. $20 euros, hope this works!!
Now we go to the beach. It is overcast but 21 C. We have coffee there too.
Well Jeff has coffee, I have a donut.

Jeff had waded in yesterday so today I rolled up my pants and went in. If it was hotter Jeff would go for a swim.

So either this is a holiday of some sort or just a typical Sunday - and we were in Messina last Sunday and ran into the same thing so it's likely just an ordinary Sunday. The market is closed. So we want to go out for pizza then but the nearby pizza place is closed. However our breakfast cafe is open so we eat there. Super busy.

Sicilian pizza has a thick sponge like dough. More like focaccia bread.

We each had a cannoli for dessert. I had chocolate. I forgot to take a picture but these were premade unlike the delightful one I had in Syracusa. Really you could make a similar concoction to these with chocolate pudding in a waffle cone. Which I wouldn't. Our bill was 11 euros which is pretty good value. I super enjoyed the orange juice.

I still have a plum at the apartment so can have that as a snack later.
This has been a quiet and lazy few days near the shore of the Mediterranean. Good walking weather, not good swimming weather but hey it's November.
We are off to Palermo, a bus, a train, and another bus will get us there on Nov 11. We will pass along the route near where Canadians fought in World War 2.
