31 Oct - all day bus ticket - Ischia

We polished off the rest of the baking, had coffee at the local pub and sat in the garden. Laturna grows like trees here, the flowers are pretty but have a really putrid smell.
We are checking out buses to travel around the island to see the sights. You can buy an all day pass for 5 euro - the number 7 will take us to the port and then a CS bus travels around the island. Let's see how we do.
You can buy the all day ticket near the port or at a Tobacco shop - look for a T. They want payment in cash. So no problem getting the number 7 bus. The CS bus was full so we had to stand for awhile and I thought these long living people that are always walking uphill on cobbled streets likely get an additional workout on these buses hanging on for dear life and bracing themselves. The scenery is really beautiful so lush and green but also a cloudless blue sky, a fabulous coastline and a shimmering sea.

22 C today, seems hot in the sun but cool in the shade. Eventually we got seats and decided to get off in a little town Panza where we ate pizza. The prices were fairly reasonable but had not encountered the service charge before - 4 euros or six dollars which seemed high as we got nothing extra. Something to be aware of! The pizza was good and cost six euros.

We regretted leaving a tip! Which is not necessary to do in Italy we read later. I had a beer, five C and Jeff had coffee.

The road in spots is so twisty and narrow it almost made me woozy. For one ten minute period the driver was honking every 12 seconds to warn oncoming traffic - and tourists rent cars and drive around, terrifying thought! - two vehicles cannot occupy the same road at the same time - throw in pedestrians, scooters and stray dogs and it's a real hullabaloo!!
These are Angel Trumpet Flowers, pretty but can trigger allergies

We pretty much went around the whole island: We got off at Santa Angelo and Lido di Maronti as well. We are staying in Porto Ischia

On our return we went back to the same bakery Treni, and split a dish of ice cream and I bought two cornettos (similar to sweet croissants) for our Italian style breakfast tomorrow, Kids seem to be Halloweening - we saw a few in costumes but found this group with a wheel barrel hilarious:

So now it is November 1 2024
We leave Ischia today. My water immersion heater is working so we can make instant coffee in the hotel room. We have one cup so take turns eating our sweet bun with a steaming hot coffee

We will stop by the neighbourhood pub for a proper cup of brewed coffee after we check out. Time for checking out is 10 am - kind of early.
